Tie and dye covers the resist family we source from Kutch, Jamnagar and Bhuj: Bandhani, where thousands of tiny points are tied by fingernail before dyeing so each dot blooms white against the ground; batik, where molten wax is drawn or stamped on and cracks into the fine veining that identifies the technique; and shibori, where the length is folded, clamped or stitched to produce rippling geometric bands. Grounds range from cotton mul and voile to georgette, chiffon and modal, so weight and transparency can be matched to the garment rather than the technique. Because the resist is applied by hand, no two lengths repeat exactly.
